The Quantum Hardware Team at QpiAI is responsible for the design and characterization of Quantum Processors, Cryogenic Quantum Control Circuits, RF Control Hardware, and QpiAI’s proprietary Accelerated Signal Generation Platform (ASGP).
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cryogenics Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be a dependable, hands-on professional with a passion for advancing quantum computing and detector technologies. This role is crucial for the end-to-end lifecycle of our cryogenic systems, from design and development to operation, maintenance, and optimization.
Job Role:
- Lead the development, installation, operation, and maintenance of advanced cryogenic systems, including cryostats for quantum devices and dilution refrigerators for quantum computing experiments.
- Oversee system commissioning, cooldown, and performance optimization to ensure peak operational efficiency.
- Design and develop complex cryogenic components, such as cryostats, sample holders, and enclosures for quantum experimental setups and Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detector (SNSPD) applications.
- Utilize CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks to design facility layouts for quantum cryogenic labs and related infrastructure.
- Act as a key liaison with external vendors and fabricators, participating in design meetings and witnessing acceptance tests to ensure high-quality standards.
- Supervise and guide technicians during the assembly, installation, and commissioning of cryogenic equipment.
- Support the seamless integration of cryogenic systems with optical and electronic subsystems for detector applications.
- Maintain meticulous and detailed documentation of all procedures, operations, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in the development of experimental and test support equipment for SNSPDs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the development, operation, and maintenance of cryogenic systems is a plus one.
- General knowledge of cryostats, with hands-on experience being a significant plus.
- A basic understanding of dilution refrigerators is essential; prior experience at a cryogenics facility is a strong advantage.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
- A dependable and proactive team player who can collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
