Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Transport Manager at IREP in Chennai. The Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing seamless delivery of employee transport services. Responsible for handling employee transport services for client employees through in-house resources and contract service providers. 


Key Duties


· Manage delivery of transport services at the client site which will include data collection routing, fleet allocation, movement tracking, customer query / issue resolution, compliance checks and emergency support.

· Should be computer literate to handle the transport tool and manage day to day operation MIS.

· Compliance – Regular review of managed services to ensure compliance with client / IREP policies, statutory regulations, health & safety standards as per client process, and local guidelines / processes as applicable to both in-house and outsourced staff.

· Reporting – Ensure timely and accurate updation of key metrics and reports. These will include KPIs, operational metrics such as on-time arrivals, cost, vendor performance, incident reports, occupancy levels etc.

· Contingency Planning – Work with team to ensure backup planning for critical services

· Vendor Management – Ensure strong engagement with client vendors / service providers, timely issue resolution, accurate & timely payments.

· Hands on experience in managing all aspects of Transport (routing, operations, compliance, billing / payments, vendor & customer management).

·   Ensure daily seamless shift operations.

·   Monitor arrival and departure and maintain shift records/trip sheets.

·   Assist in verifying vendor invoices.

·   Ensure all transport billing documents are filed and made available for internal/external audits.

·   Carry out vehicle’s audits on a regular basis and ensure 100% vehicle compliance.

·   Random check on live data of GPS in technology tool.

·   Periodic checks of driver’s credentials with vendor and ensuring documents pertaining to the vehicle is updated (Registration certificate, Taxation, Driving license, Emission, Insurance & Permit)

·   Driver defensive training, medical fitness certificate and police BGV to be checked periodically.

·   Ensuring deployment of escort security guards for late night lady employees drop/pickup.

·   Providing timely updates to employees w.r.t daily operations.

·   Coordinate in case of vehicle break down and route deviation due to roadblocks/ traffic jam


Personal Specification

  • Any Graduate
  • 6+ years of experience in Transport Management with large Indian or multi-national companies, out of which at least 2-3 years of experience should be with overall responsibility of managing a site.
  • Good understanding of local transport operations and service standards.
  • Good planning, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Service oriented outlook with ability to handle pressure situations
  • Good communicator (written and verbal). English and fluency in one or more Indian languages. 
  • Customer focused approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Team player.
  • Good MS Office skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple tasks.
