About the job

We are seeking a skilled AWS Engineer with proven experience in AWS Athena, Aurora, Iceberg, Kafka and Glue. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data-driven solutions in a cloud environment. The role involves building scalable and reliable data pipelines, designing custom AWS solutions, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure effective data governance. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure data availability for analytics and reporting while handling large volumes of data.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows using AWS Glue, S3, and Athena for seamless data ingestion, transformation, and analytics.
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines leveraging Kafka and PySpark for real-time and batch data processing.
  • Create efficient query structures in Athena to analyze large-scale data lakes and ensure high performance and cost efficiency.
  • Implement Apache Iceberg for data optimization, versioning, and incremental updates to enhance data management capabilities.
  • Manage Aurora databases for high availability, scalability, and efficient performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and data teams to design modern data solutions aligned with business requirements and best practices on the AWS cloud platform.
  • Develop custom solutions and workflows to support data governance initiatives, including data dictionaries and transformation rules.
  • Enhance data availability for analytics by closely working with data scientists and analysts and translating business requirements into technical implementations.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize data workflows using AWS tools like CloudWatch while managing large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive mapping documents, transformation business rules, and custom processes for data governance and analytics.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Glue, Athena, Iceberg, Aurora, and managing data lakes on S3.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, data streaming, and processing frameworks.
  • Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and AWS data services, including S3, Lambda, Glue, and Athena.
  • Proven ability to optimize performance and manage cost efficiency for AWS data services.
  • Solid understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and distributed computing.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • AWS certification is preferred but not mandatory.


Requirements - Must have:

  • 4-7 years of total experience with at least 3+ years as a data engineer with AWS as the cloud platform.
