Azure Cloud has one of the highest number of data centers amongst all the cloud providers. Azure Storage, which is a massively scalable, highly distributed, ubiquitously accessible storage system, is designed to scale out and serve the entire world with hundreds of thousands of devices in our data centers across the world. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on both software and hardware optimizations that will help drive the scale of Azure Storage to the next level.We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager who is passionate about leading teams to build and optimize a world class distributed file system. You would be joining a talented, highly collaborative team, with responsibility for engineering the lowest most fundamental layers of the Azure storage service. The role brings exposure to cutting edge storage, memory, networking, and distributed system technologies, with broad opportunity to influence both the business and the industry. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams.Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers).Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.Leads product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.Mentors and guides junior team members to establish quality and innovation driven teamsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages preferably C, C++.3+ years of experience in building and leading high performant teams.Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
