Database Specialist Job DescriptionAbout the Role:This position requires a highly skilled Database Specialist to oversee and manage our PostgreSQL database operations across hybrid environments.Main Responsibilities:Develop and implement high availability strategies for critical databases, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.Design and execute data backup and recovery plans using advanced tools like pgBackRest or Commvault integrations.Optimize database queries, indexes, and storage parameters to enhance resource utilization and efficiency.Automate patch deployment and version upgrades using Ansible or Jenkins pipelines, reducing manual intervention and improving overall system reliability.Collaborate with application teams to refine SQL queries and connection pools for optimal production performance.Integrate PostgreSQL metrics into Splunk and AWS CloudWatch/Azure Monitor for proactive monitoring and real-time analytics.Lead incident resolution efforts and document root cause analysis for database-related issues.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.Proven experience in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and automation.In-depth understanding of replication, high availability, and disaster recovery architecture.Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL scripting, and query optimization techniques.Skills Required:Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database management systems.Familiarity with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.Good understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.What We Offer:We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, opportunities for professional growth and development, and a dynamic work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration.
