Role Summary:

We are seeking to hire an Applied AI Engineer whose primary focus will be to help design, build, and optimize Base0's core intelligence systems. You'll contribute towards our knowledge extraction pipelines, context retrieval (GraphRAG), prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks that transform fragmented AI conversations into persistent, structured knowledge.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Extraction Systems: Build pipelines that capture work specifications, decisions, and requirements from AI conversations — distinguishing committed decisions from explorations
  • GraphRAG Implementation: Develop and optimize graph-based retrieval for precise, low-latency context delivery across work items
  • Prompt Engineering: Design, test, and maintain complex multi-step prompts for extraction, routing, synthesis, and retrieval across domains
  • Evaluation Frameworks: Implement LLM-as-judge systems to measure extraction quality and context relevance
  • Model Optimization: Apply fine-tuning/adapters where beneficial; manage data quality and ontology standards


Required Skills:

  • 3+ years building production LLM systems with complex prompt chains
  • Strong Python proficiency and experience with RAG systems, embeddings, and vector databases
  • Proven track record in prompt engineering and structured information extraction
  • Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks and optimization (accuracy, latency, cost)
  • Hands-on experience with fine-tuning methods (LoRA, adapters)
  • Cloud AI services experience (Azure OpenAI preferred)


Nice to Have:

  • GraphRAG/Neo4j experience
  • LangChain/LlamaIndex frameworks
  • Knowledge graphs and ontology design
  • Multi-agent LLM systems
