GMM Pfaudler Ltd is hiring for the role of Design Engineer A qualified candidate would be responsible for the design and/ drafting of engineered-to order projects involving highly corrosion resistant pressure equipment engineered in a variety of specialty alloy materials. This candidate would have to be experienced with the creation of typical component fabrication and machining drawings. Design Engineer of ASME Code pressure equipment such as agitated reactors, blenders,

evaporators, heat exchangers, receivers and related accessories.


This position is to support the engineering for our global entity Pfaudler, Inc., a leading

supplier of highly engineered, critical equipment and systems for global energy, chemical

and industrial markets have an immediate opening for a design engineer having

experience in 3D Solid Modelling and Design of ASME Code pressure equipment such as

heat exchangers, evaporators, blenders, receivers, mechanical assemblies and agitated

reactors is a plus.


Primary responsibilities :


  • Design Engineer will be responsible for the ASME coded design and drafting of original equipment and aftermarket projects. In conjunction with a Product Engineer work from a detailed order specification to convert customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications including drawings and engineering bill of materials in an ERP system.
  • The key duty is the design and drafting of engineered-to-order projects involving highly corrosion resistant pressure equipment in a variety of specialty alloy materials and composite materials.
  • Project scope extends from high level setting plans to detail manufacturing specifications.
  • Generate 3D models with SolidWorks within Pfaudler standard practice.
  • Create 2D drawings of component level parts and sub-assemblies generated from 3D solid models.
  • Generate engineering bills of materials and product structures within an ERP system.
  • At least 2 yrs Design experience with ASME Code pressure vessels utilizing PV Elite, Compress or Design Calcs is must.
  • Utilize a Product Data Management System for control of engineering data including associated workflows.
  • Application of shop fabrication methods such as rolling, welding and machining operations in design creation.
  • Proper weld symbol creation and specification in accordance with AWS standards.
  • Interact with fabrication departments before and during manufacturing phase of projects.
  • Review for use of pre-engineered product to minimize excessive design.
  • Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
  • Mechanical design for the interaction of parts.


Secondary responsibilities :


  • Successfully completed specialist training as a technical product designer (formerly technical draftsman)
  • Ideally experience with PDM system (Autodesk Vault)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing techniques, materials and the application of internal and external standards
  • Understanding of instrumentation and related international codes (American, European)
  • Knowledge of European directives such as machinery directives, harmonic standards


Knowledge & Skills required:


  • Eligible candidates should be proficient in 3D solid modelling using SolidWorks and 2D design drafting using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Must have minimum 2 yrs exp. In designing of ASME Coded equipment’s in PVElite/ Compress

code ware software.

  • This Candidate should have good knowledge of pressure vessel design code like ASME, API, EN13445 etc.
  • Generate engineering bills of materials and product structures within an ERP system.
  • Utilize a Product Data Management System for controlling engineering data including associated workflows.
  • Review for use of pre-engineered product to minimize excessive design.
  • Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
  • This candidate would have to be experienced with the creation of typical component fabrication and machining drawings.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation typically used in the chemical process industry is a plus.
