About the JobAs an Underwriter, you will maintain a working knowledge of US Mortgage Originations and closing procedures.You must have a good understanding of the 4C's of underwriting.Experience in end-to-end underwriting of Conventional loans is required.Strong knowledge of Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector (LP) is essential.Sound understanding of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac Guidelines is necessary.You will interpret state rules, federal regulations, and investor guidelines to apply them to specific loans.The ideal candidate has experience in reviewing loan files for compliance with regulatory and client's guidelines/overlays.Analyze income & employment, credit strength, capacity to repay, property appraisal, title report; calculate LTV/CLTV/HCLTV/DTI/HTI, checking all information relevant to the credit decision process on each mortgage application.Candidates must be able to calculate various types of income (Wage earner/self-employment/Other income etc.).A good decision maker who can identify red flags and Approving or Denying the file accordingly is required.They must analyze the risk involved in approving a loan to determine whether it is acceptable to the lender.
