Job DescriptionThe position of Senior Programmer entails providing programming support to the statistics and programming department across a range of projects, clients, and therapeutic areas.Key ResponsibilitiesThis role will be responsible for manipulating large databases and generating reports to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets. The ideal candidate must have excellent SAS and SQL programming skills and the ability to implement complex logic.SAS is acceptable. R programming is preferred.We are open to any therapeutic area experience. Experience in rare diseases will be a plus, but not emphasized.Real-world healthcare claims database experience is required. Any equivalent EU database experience to US Market scan/Optum is acceptable.OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly valued. Even 1 year of experience with this model is beneficial.SQL querying and extracting from databases is essential.Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are crucial for this position.Technical RequirementsProficient in R and SQL programming - Expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron, COTA - Has good understanding of Oncology specific analyses such as Line of Therapy algorithms, Survival analysis, different statistical models - Preferable to have R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) experience - Experience with Analytic Datasets, patient cohorts is valuable.General RequirementsEffective leadership of internal and client study team meetingsPresentation of study updates internally and at client meetingsSharing of scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleaguesPerforming work in full compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company policies, procedures, and trainingBuilding effective collaborative working relationships with internal and client team membersSeeking opportunities to develop innovative ideas, sharing when appropriateLine management or mentorship of more junior team membersContribution to development of internal training materialsContribution to internal process improvement initiativesQualification RequirementsBachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subjects with high statistical contentMinimum 4+ years (Senior) and 7-8 years (Principal) statistical programming experienceDatabase programming using SQLExperience with advanced statistical methods such as survival and regressionExperience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data such as MarketScan, Optum, and Medicare databasesAdditional RequirementsMaster's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subjects with high statistical contentTraining or experience using the OMOP Common Data ModelTraining or experience with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based softwarePharmaceutical industry experienceTraining or experience in epidemiological methods
