As we expand our online presence, we are looking for a talented and versatile Graphic Designer with UI/UX experience who can also support back-end Shopify development. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in translating our visual identity and brand aesthetic into a seamless and engaging e-commerce experience.


Job Description:

We are looking for a creative and tech-savvy Graphic Designer with UI/UX experience to join our team. You will be responsible for designing visually stunning digital assets for our online store, ensuring a cohesive user experience across all platforms, and managing the back-end of our Shopify website. The role requires a blend of design expertise and technical proficiency in web development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Graphic Design: Create compelling visual assets including website banners, product pages, promotional materials, social media graphics, and email marketing templates that align with our brand’s artistic aesthetic.
  • UI/UX Design: Design and enhance the user experience across our e-commerce platforms, focusing on functionality, navigation, and overall customer engagement. Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for the Shopify storefront.
  • Shopify Development: Work with Shopify’s platform, themes, and plugins to develop, customize, and maintain our e-commerce website. Ability to handle the back-end coding required for the store’s functionality, including custom Shopify apps or integrations if needed.
  • Web Optimization: Collaborate with the marketing and content teams to ensure a fast-loading, mobile-responsive, and SEO-friendly online store.
  • E-commerce Strategy: Stay up-to-date with e-commerce and UI/UX trends to recommend best practices for improving the online shopping experience and conversion rates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial, marketing, and product teams to ensure consistent branding across all digital platforms and a cohesive user journey.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in graphic design and UI/UX roles, preferably within an e-commerce or digital publishing environment.
  • Proficient in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma or Sketch for UI/UX design.
  • Strong knowledge of Shopify, including theme customization, Liquid templating, and app integrations.
  • Experience in front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and understanding of back-end Shopify development.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a strong understanding of visual design principles, user-centered design, and e-commerce layouts.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design, SEO principles, and mobile-first development.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for art, culture, and design is a plus


Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Shopify Plus and experience with developing custom Shopify apps.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages is a bonus.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or other similar platforms
  • Interest or experience in art book publishing or online art sales.
