Job Title: Solution Architect - Banking IT Division
HGS Digital is looking for a Solution Architect with deep expertise in application architecture standards, cloud-native principles, and modern development practices, tailored for the Banking IT domain. This person will take a key role on our team and must excel in designing, evolving, and guiding architecture solutions in a banking enterprise setting.
This candidate should be an experienced architect who can operate independently and professionally to align technical solutions with banking business needs. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in solution architecture and enterprise systems.
Job Duties:
- This person will be responsible for designing robust, scalable, and secure architectures to support banking enterprise solutions. The role includes defining standards, ensuring performance, and leading technical innovation. Job duties of a Solution Architect at HGS Digital entail:
- Apply practical knowledge of application architecture standards, including principles of 12-factor applications and API First principles.
- Design architectures with characteristics for high availability, fault tolerance, performance, and scalability.
- Leverage application containerization and container orchestration using platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Evolve architectures to cloud-native/serverless applications.
- Utilize architecture patterns such as Event-Driven Architecture, Microservices, and Cloud-Native/Serverless solutions.
- Implement integration components, including API Gateways (north-south integration) and Service Meshes (east-west integration).
- Configure and optimize queues (Kafka, IBM MQ), load balancers, and micro frontends.
- Guide Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including Build, Test, and Deploy cycles.
- Establish DevSecOps maturity standards for Application Development and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Manage pipeline automation with tools like Jira, GitLab CI, SonarQube, Octopus, Docker, Harbor, and Nexus.
- Incorporate test automation into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Lead discussions on Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Change Management Processes.
- Define and maintain application ecosystems, including databases, data architecture, network architecture/configuration, security architecture/configuration, and operating systems.
- Promote principles of separation of duties and ensure robust version control in release management.
- Provide expertise on API management principles, including the design imperatives of an API marketplace for discovery, visibility, and monetization.
- Apply principles of Open Banking/Embedded Finance, ensuring compliance with authentication, authorization, consent, and security standards.
- Integrate core banking systems with emerging technologies like blockchain and digital payment platforms.
- Implement advanced banking-specific technologies such as SWIFT integration, ISO 20022 standards, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Expected Experience and Skills:
- Practical knowledge of architecture standards, including 12-factor applications and API First principles.
- Proficiency in event-driven, microservices, and cloud-native/serverless architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern container orchestration platforms.
- Familiarity with integration components such as API Gateways, Service Meshes, and queueing systems like Kafka.
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, SonarQube, and Octopus.
- Proficiency in automating infrastructure with IaC tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Strong understanding of API management and Open Banking principles.
- Expertise in SDLC, change management, and DevSecOps practices.
- Knowledge of advanced banking technologies, including SWIFT, ISO 20022, blockchain, and digital payment platforms.
- Ability to manage application ecosystems, including security, data, and network architecture.
- Banking industry experience is a must.
Background and Minimum Requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or associated fields, or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of:
- 10+ years of professional experience in solution architecture, including cloud environments.
- Proven expertise in designing and evolving enterprise systems and architectures for banking.
- Knowledge of formal architecture methodologies and tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address critical architectural challenges.
