Business Consultant Role in Energy and UtilitiesThis is a senior client-facing consulting role that focuses on domain expertise, discovery, workshops, early-stage solutioning, and advisory for energy and utilities clients.You will collaborate with architects, delivery teams, and leaders to shape industry-aligned solutions. Presales experience is beneficial but not required.The ideal candidate should have deep experience in power, water, or gas utilities and strong knowledge of enabling or delivering digital transformation initiatives.Domain & Solution Advisory:Bring a comprehensive understanding of utility operations across customer experience, meter-to-cash, field service, outage management, metering, billing & collections, asset operations, and water/gas network operations.Translate industry challenges into structured business requirements, use cases, and solution components across process, application, integration, and data layers.Work with architects and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define to-be process flows, functional designs, and high-level solution architectures.Support effort estimation, delivery planning, and resourcing based on functional scope.Stay updated on digital themes influencing utilities, such as AMI 2.0, DER, AI/ML, cloud, portals, mobile workforce solutions, etc.Consulting Engagement Execution:Lead or contribute to assessments, discovery phases, roadmap creation, proof-of-concepts (PoCs)/accelerators, and similar early-stage consulting engagements.Facilitate client workshops to document as-is processes and define to-be journeys aligned with best practices.Convert ambiguous client inputs into clear and structured requirements and opportunity narratives.Ensure alignment and continuity between early-stage consulting and downstream delivery teams.Pursuit Support (Desirable):Support response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) / Requests for Information (RFIs) for utility clients, including domain write-ups, solution narratives, and business process flows.Participate in client discussions, solution walkthroughs, and executive meetings.Conduct background research on clients, regulatory context, and industry trends to strengthen proposal direction.Collaborate with practice leadership, sales teams, and architects on solution strategies and proposal structure.Must-Have Qualifications:12+ years of total experience, including 8+ years as a Business Analyst or Senior Consultant in Energy & Utilities.MBA from a reputable institution.Proven ability to abstract client problems and articulate solution options clearly for both business and technical stakeholders.Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC), Agile/Waterfall models, and functional documentation.Familiarity with utility enterprise platforms such as CIS, OMS, MDM, AMI, WMS, GIS, CRM/CX systems, etc.Experience working with global teams and international utility clients.Excellent communication skills, especially in writing, structuring, and presenting client-facing content.Why Choose Us?Enjoy autonomy and flexibility within a supportive environment.Contribute to practical problem-solving and experimentation.Directly impact client success through solution evolution.Be part of a culture valuing trust, clarity, and professional autonomy.
