Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and accounting software. This role offers an opportunity to work across various accounting disciplines, including corporate, governmental, and non-profit sectors, with a focus on maintaining accurate financial records and supporting strategic financial management. The Accountant will play a key role in ensuring adherence to GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while providing insightful financial analysis to support organizational goals.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.Conduct accounts payable and receivable processing, including invoice review and payment processing.Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to ensure accurate cash management.Maintain accurate journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and ledger updates using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.Support regulatory reporting requirements and assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation.Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other internal policies related to financial reporting.Assist with tax preparation and experience related to tax filings or tax software is a plus.Mentor junior staff or interns in accounting procedures and best practices.Participate in financial analysis projects including forecasting, budgeting, and financial management initiatives.Interpret financial reports for management decision-making and provide insights into financial concepts such as accrual accounting, debits & credits, and financial statement interpretation.SkillsExtensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping and journal entries.Experience with non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or public accounting is advantageous.Familiarity with LIHTC regulations, securities law, wills & estate law is a plus.Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately.Skilled in financial report writing and interpretation for diverse stakeholders.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct cash flow analysis and financial analysis effectively.Competency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting tasks; experience with other financial software is beneficial.Strong understanding of budgeting processes, accrual accounting, general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable processing, payroll support, and regulatory compliance.
