Job Functions:


Global Logistics is responsible for the compliant, secure and efficient movement of import merchandise from 50+ strategic sourcing locations to Walmart.

The team is responsible for using global leverage to optimize the import supply chain to ensure capacity and service delivered at Every Day Low Cost to support the company’s growth.

Core functions within Global Logistics include the management of global contract, strategic relationships and service execution with international logistics providers.

The team partners with suppliers and internal supply chain stakeholders to design and deliver global logistics solutions across all product categories, creating global leverage that enables merchant strategies for all retail markets worldwide.




Experience: 10 years to 17 years



Primary Responsibilities:


  • Leads the Global Logistics strategy execution team based in the offshore Global Sourcing hubs responsible for logistics management that enables the flow of import merchandise.
  • Supports global best practice sharing that enables continuous process simplification and supply chain efficiencies for the retail markets, across all channels.
  • Supports the Global Logistics strategy development in creation of long term plans that enable Sourcing Geography of Excellence strategies and growth across all merchandise categories for all retail markets.
  • Manages relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure continuous engagement for innovation and application of logistics solutions to enable capacity, service and Every Day Low Cost.
  • Responsible for implementation and execution of global logistics strategies through partnerships with internal supply chain stakeholders and external service providers (origin ports/terminals, origin cargo managers, ocean carriers and airfreight forwarders).
  • Leads global best practice sharing with internal stakeholders that enables continuous process simplification and supply chain efficiencies across all channels.
  • Responsible for fostering an environment where associates respect and integrate company standards of integrity and ethics into all practices. Responsible for developing and maintaining a highly skilled and engaged workforce, succession planning as well as leveraging skills and capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Supports the development of Global Logistics strategies
  • Drives the compliant, secure and efficient movement of import merchandise across Sourcing origins to Walmart retail markets across all channels
  • Drives operational compliance with Global Logistics programs, systems, and processes and initiates continuous improvement
  • Oversees the origin service and performance of 3rd party logistics providers (origin ports/terminals, ocean carriers, origin cargo managers, air freight forwarders) to enable the effective and efficient flow of merchandise
  • Drives collaboration, communication and conjunction with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to deliver customer-focused, end to end, cost efficient logistics solutions including contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions
  • Develops and oversees the systems and training strategies in partnership with Home Office based team
  • Works with stakeholders to develop logistics solutions to support Walmart sourcing Geography of Excellence strategies
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce
  • Ensures business needs are being met and improves efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Promotes and supports company cultures and standards of ethics



Specific Duties and Accountabilities of the Job:


  • Collaborates with all stakeholders (GS functional teams, 3rd party logistics providers, retail markets, suppliers, etc.) to enable EDLC and On Shelf Availability across all merchandise types and all retail formats.
  • Analyzes business needs, evaluates processes, identifies opportunities, and leads projects and initiatives to unlock supply chain value
  • Leads local industry and intelligence gathering to support development of Global Logistics strategies across core functions, including origin cargo manager, air freight forwarder, ocean carrier selection, forecasting and allocation to ensure operational excellence
  • Drives planning and implementation of supply chain solutions to support Walmart sourcing Geography of Excellence strategies.
  • Oversees the resources deployment to ensure level of service
  • Tracks key metrics, initiates improvement plans, and drives business results
  • Identifies leverage opportunities and integrates logistics processes across different functions and retail markets
  • Provides guidance, supports and development opportunities to associates
  • Provides expertise, insights and trainings to stakeholders to support business needs
  • Communicates market intelligence and formulates logistics contingency plan with stakeholders
  • Supports management to meet business needs
  • Strengthens company reputation and local involvement
