We are seeking a pre-opening General Manager for a luxury hotel, with proven expertise in managing upscale properties featuring extensive F&B and banqueting facilities.


Merlis Coimbatore is an elegant new luxury hotel set amidst 4 acres of serene landscapes, ideally located just 2 kilometers from Coimbatore International Airport. The hotel features 150 meticulously designed rooms, including five premium dining outlets, and an array of world-class facilities, including two grand ballrooms, a spacious banquet lawn, six well equipped meeting rooms. For relaxation and wellness, guests can enjoy a state-of-the-art health club featuring a spa, gym, and swimming pool. Designed with versatility in mind, Merlis Coimbatore is the perfect destination for corporate MICE functions, large weddings, and distinctive residential-style gatherings, that promise an unforgettable experience for every guest.


Duties and responsibilities


Strategic Planning and Coordination

Develop Pre-Opening Plan: Create a comprehensive pre-opening plan, including timelines, budgets, and milestones.

Set Operational Standards: Establish SOPs for all departments.

Team Recruitment and Training: Hire key personnel and ensure thorough training programs are implemented for the pre-opening team.

Coordinate with Stakeholders: Work closely with owners, developers, contractors, and brand representatives to ensure the property meets brand standards and is completed on time.


Financial Management

Budget Preparation: Develop pre-opening and operational budgets, including staffing, marketing, and operational costs.

Cost Control: Monitor expenses and manage resources to stay within budget.

Revenue Planning: Implement strategies for room pricing, F&B sales, and event revenue optimization.


Operational Readiness

Facility Inspection and Handover: Oversee final inspections of the property and ensure all areas meet safety and quality standards.

Vendor Management: Source and contract with suppliers for essential goods and services.

Licensing and Compliance: Ensure all necessary licenses and permits are in place, including health and safety certifications.


Brand and Marketing

Brand Implementation: Ensure the hotel adheres to brand standards and guidelines.

Pre-Opening Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute pre-opening campaigns, including digital and traditional media.

Community Engagement: Build relationships with local businesses and the community to establish the hotel’s presence.


Guest Experience

Service Excellence: Develop strategies to deliver exceptional guest experiences from Day 1.

Facility Setup: Ensure guest rooms, F&B outlets, and public areas are fully equipped and ready for operation.


Crisis and Risk Management

Contingency Planning: Identify potential risks and create contingency plans to address unexpected challenges.

Safety Protocols: Establish safety and emergency procedures for staff and guests.


Leadership and Team Building

Motivate the Team: Inspire and lead the team to achieve high levels of performance.

Foster Culture: Instill a positive and collaborative workplace culture that aligns with the brand’s values.


Post-Opening Transition

Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the opening.

Feedback and Adjustment: Gather guest feedback and implement improvements post-opening.

Handover to Operations: Seamlessly transition from pre-opening to regular operations while maintaining quality and service standards.
