Senior Elixir Developer (Remote) Company: Backgammon Galaxy (backgammongalaxy.com) Location: Remote (HQ in Cyprus) | Full-time Backgammon Galaxy is the leading web and mobile platform for playing backgammon, with 150,000+ active players worldwide. We’ve been growing steadily for four years, and now we’re looking for a Senior Elixir Developer to help us scale our real-time gaming platform. Our tech team works 100% remotely and asynchronously, following modern software development methodologies — so you’ll have the freedom to focus and do your best work. What You’ll Do - Design and develop new features using Elixir and Phoenix - Build near real-time gaming features and live updates (WebSockets, LiveView) - Architect and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant systems - Write clean, testable, and maintainable code - Collaborate with the team through code reviews and design discussions - Optimize performance for real-time and distributed systems - Stay ahead of the curve with emerging Elixir and backend technologies What We’re Looking For - MSc/BSc in a STEM field or equivalent professional experience - 5+ years of experience with Elixir, OTP, and Phoenix - Proven experience building near real-time applications (WebSockets, LiveView, etc.) - Strong understanding of distributed systems and concurrency - Solid experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines - Proficiency with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) - Experience with messaging systems like RabbitMQ - Networking knowledge (HTTP, gRPC, TCP, AMQP) - Self-starter mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to thrive in remote startup environments Nice to Have - Experience with Erlang - Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or similar) - Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) - Monitoring and metrics expertise - Familiarity with Nx and Axon for machine learning - Real-time gaming application experience - Performance tuning and optimization expertise - Experience with additional programming languages Why You’ll Love Working With Us - Fully remote: Work from anywhere - ⏱ Asynchronous culture: Minimal meetings, deep focus work - Flexible schedule: Work when you’re most productive - Competitive salary: Based on experience - Big impact: Shape the future of a platform with 150,000+ players - Collaborative environment: Join a passionate, talented team No agencies — direct applicants only.
