Job Overview A Junior Architect plays a vital role in supporting the design, planning, and execution of architectural projects. They work closely with senior architects, engineers, interior designers, and other project stakeholders to transform concepts into functional, aesthetic, and sustainable designs. This role requires proficiency in architectural software, drafting skills, creative thinking, and knowledge of building regulations. The Junior Architect contributes to every stage of a project — from concept development and design documentation to coordination with vendors and site supervision. Key Responsibilities A. Design & Planning Assist senior architects in conceptualizing and developing architectural designs for residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects. Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and visualizations using software like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Lumion. Prepare design presentations and mood boards to communicate ideas effectively to clients and internal teams. Conduct feasibility studies and site analysis to ensure practical and cost-effective design solutions. Stay updated on modern architectural trends, sustainable practices, and innovative materials. B. Project Documentation & Drafting Develop detailed architectural drawings, layouts, and technical blueprints for client approval and construction execution. Prepare working drawings, sections, elevations, and detailing in compliance with project requirements. Ensure accuracy and consistency in design specifications, materials, and finishes. Maintain proper documentation of all architectural deliverables and revisions. C. Coordination & Collaboration Collaborate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, and interior designers to integrate all design components seamlessly. Work with vendors and contractors to ensure material selections match project specifications. Coordinate with the project management team to monitor project timelines, budgets, and milestones. Assist senior architects in conducting client meetings and presenting project updates. D. Site Visits & Supervision Visit construction sites regularly to ensure design intent is being followed. Identify and report any deviations, discrepancies, or technical issues at the site. Collaborate with site engineers and contractors to resolve on-site challenges quickly. Take site measurements and verify details for accurate project execution. E. Regulatory Compliance Ensure designs adhere to local building codes, safety norms, environmental regulations, and zoning laws. Assist in preparing and submitting documents for approvals, permits, and clearances from relevant authorities. Stay updated on industry standards and legal requirements to maintain compliance. F. Research & Innovation Research innovative materials, construction techniques, and sustainable solutions. Explore emerging technologies like BIM (Building Information Modeling) to improve project efficiency. Keep abreast of design innovations to bring creativity and modernity into architectural projects. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Strong command of architectural design software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Rhino, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of construction methods, material specifications, and structural design basics. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Familiarity with sustainable design practices, green building codes, and energy-efficient solutions. Soft Skills Creativity & Innovation: Ability to develop aesthetically pleasing and functional designs. Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in drafting, documentation, and material selection.
