Position Overview:

We are seeking a Quality Control Engineer with a strong background in steel fabrication to ensure that all fabricated components and assemblies meet design specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in weld inspection, dimensional accuracy, and process quality within a fabrication shop and installation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct inspection of fabricated steel components, sub-assemblies, and finished structures as per approved drawings and standards.
- Verify welding quality, dimensions, alignment, and surface finish in accordance with WPS and quality plans.
- Ensure incoming materials (plates, beams, fasteners, etc.) meet specified quality standards and traceability requirements.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NCRs, test certificates, and other documentation.
- Coordinate with production and design teams to address quality deviations and corrective actions.
- Supervise and verify fit-up, assembly, and final inspection prior to dispatch or installation.
- Monitor calibration of measuring instruments and maintain inspection equipment in proper condition.
- Support customer or third-party inspections and provide technical clarifications when required.
- Ensure adherence to ISO / internal quality management systems and safety protocols.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in quality and fabrication processes.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 37 years experience in Quality Control within a Steel Fabrication / Structural / Heavy Engineering company.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, ARC) and inspection techniques (WPS, PQR, WPQ).
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, dial gauge, height gauge, etc.).
- Familiarity with fabrication drawings, GD&T, and tolerance standards.
- Exposure to NDT methods (Visual, MPI, DP) preferred.
- Ability to handle documentation, internal audits, and client inspection coordination.
- Good communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
