All About the Role: - Work closely with business analysts, product owners and test leads to understand the business requirements and solution objectives - Authors the technical solution architecture / design documents that outline the data model changes, process changes including whether they are to be done in rules or core logic, UI changes, interface design and other technical components - Consider end-to-end solution approach - functional as well as non-functional, development as well as operating in production, robust for today's need as well as flexible for future needs and impact on implementing the solution for various clients for determining best design patterns. - Demonstrate API first thinking in building modular solution designs. - Ensure that the design approach takes into consideration the performance and security aspects, reusability, and upgradability/backward compatibility - Create extensible designs so that customers and partners can extend from the product capabilities and make changes to align with their requirements without impacting the core processing. - Create templates to ensure that the various design considerations are followed across the team for consistency - Work In alignment with SAFe Agile processes to ingest the scope of the project, complete the design specifications and accurately estimate the development timeframe at a user story level - Provide technical oversight as a design authority for multiple products, review and approve proposed architecture related changes from the Engineering team - Lead the implementation of the technical solution, including hands on coding where applicable and ensure the code delivered aligns with the design specifications - Conduct code reviews and provide feedback and be a mentor to others - Work with QC in ensuring the design patterns implemented are covered adequately through test cases - Where applicable develop and demonstrate Technical PoC followed by implementing the learnings in the form of quality driven functional code, using architectural patterns - Ensure compliance to organization & industry standard practices - Participate & present in Show & Tells (product demos) to wider audience / customer - Support issue analysis and fix activities during test phases, as well as production issue resolution What You will Bring: - Outstanding communication skills and the ability to connect, resonate, and establish credibility with an array of technical and non-technical stakeholders - Strong design thinking and a pattern-based problem-solving approach - Innate trait to analyze and learn the impact of design and incorporate learnings in future designs. - Passion for reusability, extensibility, and scalability - Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills - Innovative thinking to bring in new design approaches and marry them with existing designs and constraints - Strong business acumen with the ability to translate and predict the question behind the question - Global accessibility as well as the ability to seamlessly work with remote teams - Excitement and passion for leading an emerging technology in the Insurance space - Ability to tackle technical queries and problems with zeal and enthusiasm, helping team to successfully steer towards quality-based solutions. All About You: - Minimum 15+ years of industry experience, including 5+ years in development & solution architecture for Packaged software (Products) - 5+ years of experience in leading the solution design and development on key modules Experience in SaaS software is plus - Prior solution architecture experience with another insurance package solution will be a strong advantage - Technical expertise and hands-on development experience in multiple high-level languages such as Java technology stack, Spring, Spring Batch, Hibernate / JPA, JMS, DB/SQL, Unix - shell scripts, basic commands, web services software architecture and design - Knowledge of integration architecture & protocols - RESTFul Webservices & API framework, OAS3 APIs, Message Queues as well as interface patterns and typical system integration techniques with and without ESBs - Understanding of the end-to-end technical flow from UI stack to the DB including exposure to databases like SQL Server, Postgres, Oracle - Thorough understanding of the end-to-end software development lifecycle - Strong understanding of the non-functional aspects like performance, scalability, and vulnerability/security - Knowledge and working experience of design principles such as SOLID & architecture frameworks such as TOGAF - Exposure to cloud applications including DevOps/DevSecOps, Scaling, Deployment and Automation - Cloud Exposure - MS Azure/AWS, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, Jira - Experience in implementing application Security using SAML and integrating with Identity providers, LDAP and ADFS. - Experience in other tools and technologies like MQ, Oracle fusion middleware (WebLogic), WebSphere, WildFly - Experience of working in Agile (SAFe) and Test-Driven Development projects - Is hands-on with an inclination to carry the design into code, experience to perform code reviews, and focus to convert any repetitive manual code reviews into automated code reviews - Excellent communication skills and can articulate the solution design to developers and testers but also figuratively create the solution diagrams in tools like Visio/PowerPoint - Excellent interpersonal and client management skills. Other Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree (or global equivalent) in Computer Science or related field, Master's Degree preferred - Experience with SAFe Agile development practices and processes, SAFe Agilist certification preferred - Exposure to the North American insurance marketplace and business processes is an advantage - Experience of working with packaged software vendors, particularly in the SaaS model is an advantage
