Job Description ABOUT AGRATAS Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries applied to multiple use cases in the mobility and energy sectors, to match our customers requirements. Agratas is a scale-up business with a start-up mentality, driven by our pursuit of green growth and technological progress. We develop next-generation battery technologies at our state-of-the-art R&D Innovation Hubs in India and the UK. JOB SUMMARY Business Expertise: Should possess a holistic view of the organization, understanding the interconnection between R&D (pack design, pack engineering, process engineering) and manufacturing. Facilitate collaboration with other R&D functionals to drive innovation and commercial success. Problem Solving: Problems are often at the cutting edge of science and technology, requiring creative solutions and the ability to navigate uncertainty. Challenges include access to necessary infrastructure, coordinating multiple research streams, and aligning R&D efforts with broader company goals. Nature & Area of Impact: Greatly responsible for providing insights and support through simulations to cell development and process/product engineering teams. A data-driven approach that provides cost-efficiency and process optimization will lead to overall business impact. RESPONSIBILITIES Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities - Develop physics-based models to understand fluid and particle dynamics in electrode fabrication processes (electrode drying and electrolyte filling). - Develop models that can help in optimizing process parameters (e.g., drying temperature), and troubleshooting non-uniformity during process steps. - Demonstrate expertise in multiphase/multicomponent modeling. - Good understanding of battery electrode development processes. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential: - At least 3+ years of industrial experience in battery modelling. - Experience in process modeling using numerical/mechanical methods. - Expert in tools such as StarCCM and/or Fluent and DEM-based tools. - Passionate about problem solving and innovation. - Strong communication skills. Desired: - Good understanding of process scale-up in battery manufacturing. Role Specific Qualifications/Certifications - PhD with 3+ years of industrial experience or Masters with 5+ years of industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal/Fluid), Chemical Engineering, or any related discipline. - Deep understanding of electrode fabrication processes in battery cell manufacturing and/or R&D.
