Job Description

This role is for a highly experienced Linux Administrator to manage and support a private cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Linux administration, scripting, and cloud technologies, with a strong focus on day-to-day production support, architectural enhancements, and ensuring the integrity and compliance of all systems.

Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day production support for the private cloud infrastructure.
- Handle operating system and hypervisor provisioning.
- Develop and support automation.
- Manage charge-back processes, including the creation and updates of OS templates.
- Implement architectural updates and enhancements to the private cloud, including OS, hypervisor, and hardware updates, as well as disaster recovery.
- Utilize industry-standard technologies to ensure the integrity and recoverability of Linux servers, including backups, patch installations, and performance monitoring.
- Work with project and application development teams to implement new business initiatives and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Implement vulnerability and operating system patches to ensure compliance and system integrity.

Skills

- Expertise in Unix/Linux Server Infrastructure engineering and support operations.
- Strong supporting experience in open-source Linux operating systems (RHEL, CENTOS, Ubuntu) and hardware in an enterprise environment.
- Strong scripting expertise, including bash, Perl, and Python.
- Expertise in typical system administration skills, such as storage capacity management, performance tuning, and server hardening.
- Demonstrated ability to apply problem analysis and resolution techniques.
- Project implementation experience, including the design and management of complex solutions.
- Expertise in Puppet infrastructure support and administration.
- Knowledge of Cloud Administration (preferred).
- Knowledge of ITIL, Networking, and IT Infrastructure is also required.

Qualifications

- Extensive experience in Unix/Linux Server Infrastructure engineering and support operations.
- Strong experience in supporting and configuring open-source Linux operating systems.
- Experience in supporting cloud-based infrastructure, including open-source hypervisors (XEN, KVM), and VMware VSphere.
