SUMMARYWe are seeking a ML DevOps person to join the Wadhwani AI PMU unit at the Ministry of Electronics and IT MeitY team The ideal candidate will have experience with deployment of cutting-edge machine learning solutions in applied domains leveraging modern tools such as large language models and deep neural networks The candidate will have an understanding of what it takes to go from an ill-defined problem statement to a working deployed AI solution and be able to leverage that expertise to assist the government in framing policies for one or more of the following areas creation of data platforms policy design for establishing R D innovation labs digital platform development data privacy and protection frameworks startup financing policies digital skilling initiatives responsible AI practices and AI-driven digital transformation strategies This role requires the ability to leverage technical expertise to lead development and procurement of infrastructure to support machine learning solutions developed internally and as part of other engagements and assist in scaling MLOps maintenance and monitoring This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of AI where your contributions will directly influence India s national AI mission and foster positive change in the country If you are passionate about this opportunity have a proven track record and are ready to make a difference we d love to hear from you Location - DelhiABOUT US -Wadhwani AI is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical issues in public health agriculture education and urban development in underserved communities in the global south We collaborate with governments social sector organizations academic and research institutions and domain experts to identify real-world problems and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues with the aim of making a substantial positive impact We have over 30 AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill Melinda Gates Foundation USAID and Google org With a team of over 200 professionals our expertise encompasses AI ML research and innovation software engineering domain knowledge design and user research In the Press SoleCultures page of Wadhwani AI -ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESML infrastructure Leveraging their understanding and expertise with applied ML systems at scale the candidate will help plan and build out infrastructure to support several projects under the India AI mission They should be able to support model development and MLOps including externally developed solutions supported by the IndiaAI mission Technical advisory Provide well-researched expert technical inputs and recommendations on AI-related issues to government officials and stakeholders including initiatives under the IndiaAI mission Engage with industry experts academia and think tanks to incorporate diverse perspectives into the development of policies and programs Project planning and implementation Assist in planning implementing and monitoring key projects and initiatives under the IndiaAI mission such as the IndiaAI Datasets Platform Application Development and Safe Trusted AI Cross-functional Collaboration Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and integration of activities across different pillars of the IndiaAI mission Stakeholder Engagement Foster strong relationships with government bodies research institutions startups and international organizations to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing Reviewing applications Act as a technical expert reviewing applications from teams proposing technical projects under relevant pillars REQUIREMENTSEducational Background A Master s degree or Ph D in Computer Science Data Science Machine Learning or a related field preferred with possible exceptions for skilled Bachelor s Hands-on Experience Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications ideally of 5-10 years including academic experience Experience in handling infrastructure scaling and MLOps will be of particular relevance Technical skills Hands-on experience with MLOps tools and frameworksStrong familiarity with cloud servicesContainerization and orchestration toolsProgramming skills in Python and familiarity with ML librariesConfiguration management toolsKnowledge of CI CD platformsExperience with feature store frameworks and data versioning tools Familiarity with edge deployments for ML India-aware responsible AI practices Holistic awareness of the ethical and social implications of AI and digital technologies in governance and public policy across all sections of society grounded in Indian contexts Communication Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues to non-technical audiencesProject management Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesWe are committed to promoting diversity and the principle of equal employment opportunity for all our employees and encourage qualified candidates to apply irrespective of religion or belief ethnic or social background gender gender identity and disability If you have any questions please email us at careers wadhwaniai org
