Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with programming in one or more programming languages.
- 2 years of experience working with administration (e.g. filesystems, inodes, system calls) or networking (e.g. TCP/IP, routing, network topologies and hardware, SDN).
- Experience in navigating enterprise software, deployment and management of workloads on Cloud.
- Experience in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance and application issues.

Preferred qualifications:

- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Experience in an engineering or operations role in Enterprise Applications or other large-scale enterprise space.
- Experience in problem-solving and analyzing complex enterprise systems.
- Ability to work with multiple global stakeholders.

About The Job

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google's servicesboth our internally critical and our externally-visible systemshave reliability, uptime appropriate to users needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE's will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.

Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. On the SRE team, you'll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale which are unique to Google, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design.

Responsibilities

- Design, code and execute on projects to improve the reliability posture of critical enterprise applications. Participate in the team's on-call rotation.
- Drive technical interactions with business partners to come up with innovative ideas in terms of improving reliability for enterprise applications. Reduce the operational work significantly for our footprint on Google Cloud Platform and Google stack.
- Deliver Impact by helping the team focus and choose impactful projects, and deliver to completion. Collaborate with the Sibling SRE team to support Corporate Engineering services. Build relationships with our business partners.
- Work with other engineering teams to ensure that our infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure.
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by driving changes that improve reliability and velocity.
