This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 18 years Location: Bangalore JobType: full-time We are seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering to lead our advanced AI engineering function with deep expertise in Agentic AI systems, scalable AI architecture, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments. The ideal candidate is a visionary technology leader capable of driving large-scale engineering execution, building next-generation AI-driven platforms, and shaping long-term strategy aligned with business goals. This role requires exceptional leadership, deep technical proficiency, product mindset, and proven experience architecting and deploying mission-critical, intelligent systems. Requirements Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Technology Vision - Define and own the technology roadmap for Agentic AI and enterprise-grade platform architecture, ensuring cutting-edge innovation and global scalability. - Build and scale high-performing engineering teams across AI, platform engineering, microservices architecture, DevOps, and quality functions. - Collaborate closely with Product, Research, Data Science, and Business teams to translate vision into executable plans and high-impact deliverables. AI & Platform Architecture - Architect robust, modular, and scalable AI platforms leveraging Agentic AI frameworks, LLM ecosystems, orchestration layers, and multi-agent reasoning systems. - Establish end-to-end AI system design standards, including data pipelines, inference orchestration, memory management, safety, and performance optimization. - Drive architecture decisions for mission-critical PaaS solutions including multi-tenant deployment, distributed computing, containerization, security, and cloud-native infrastructure. Engineering Execution & Delivery - Oversee large-scale engineering programs, ensuring high-quality delivery with measurable business outcomes. - Implement engineering excellence practices including CI/CD, automation, code quality, testing frameworks, and platform reliability (SLA, SLO, KPI). - Build and operate production AI systems that meet enterprise standards for compliance, reliability, privacy, and model security. Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Research and Data Science teams to integrate advanced models, RAG, model fine-tuning, RLHF, and inference optimization. - Work closely with customer and product leaders to validate requirements and deliver world-class platform capabilities. - Influence stakeholders and executive leadership through strong communication and data-driven decision-making. Team Leadership & Culture - Mentor and develop engineering leaders, fostering a culture of technical innovation, ownership, and high performance. - Drive talent strategy, hiring, and workforce planning for fast-scaling product and engineering teams. Required Skills & Experience - 18–25 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, with at least 8+ years in senior leadership roles (Director / Head of Engineering / VP Engineering). - Extensive experience architecting and delivering production AI systems with Agentic AI, multi-agent systems, LLM orchestration, or intelligent automation frameworks. - Strong expertise in building scalable PaaS / Enterprise SaaS platforms with distributed microservices architecture. - Deep understanding of cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes, serverless, data engineering, observability, and platform reliability. - Proven ability to scale engineering organizations (100+ engineers) and manage multi-million-dollar programs. - Strong product thinking, business alignment capability, and customer-first mindset. Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in fast-growth technology, AI product companies or platform-first businesses. - Publications, patents, or recognized contributions to the AI/ML community.
