Job Description
At least 7+ years of on-the-job experience in similar role of Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering of Marine & Offshore rigs.
Electrical Engineer position provides engineering and technical support for Client's Rig /fleet operations, modification projects and shipyard refurbishment projects.
This support includes engineering analysis, design, and developing solutions for systems including at least but not limited to drilling, marine, power, control, instrumentation, communications, Control, monitoring, and alarm systems.

Practical offshore drilling rig and equipment / system experience in this job classification is required.
Engineer should provide recommendations on new designs and enhancements to existing design specifications employing industry recognized best practices. This includes methods for optimization of existing and emerging equipment designs and materials used in the drilling industry.
Professional report generation, understanding of Classification Rules, Industry Codes and Standards, IMO, coastal and flag state regulations applicable to offshore drilling vessels is required.
Should be expertise in Electrical Engineering drafting, Preparation of technical specification documents for project tasks, bill of materials
Should collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Structural Engineers & Mechanical engineers

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform detailed system design review through the engineering requests tasks and Rig Modification processes
Provide technical solutions for the Operations and Technical Support Center
Prepare & update Electrical Load Analysis
Perform Cable Sizing, Breaker Sizing, Cable, and Breaker Selections based on applications
Perform short circuit and fault level calculations
Perform voltage drop calculations
Prepare Single line diagrams, technical specifications of Electrical Distribution Panels, Control Panels, Junction Boxes, Starter Panels
Prepare and update lighting and small power circuits, selection of lighting fixtures and general-purpose socket outlets
Prepare & update Cause & Effect Matrix for ESD and F&G systems
Perform UPS and Battery sizing calculations
Perform Intrinsically Safe Circuit Loop Calculations and prepare Hazardous Area Equipment Register (HAER)
Prepare Instrument Index Register and IO lists
Draft equipment testing procedures

Minimum requirements for this position:

Must have knowledge of Power plant switchgear control design (expect to be able to provide signal interface and logic to systems for engine generator control)
Must have knowledge of Power plant protection system (practical experience with protection relays for HV or LV application) having ability to change logic in relays and change relay protection settings (not only guidance for rig but change active files to be deployed)
Must have knowledge of Drilling and thruster drives (practical experience in drive configuration and parameterization with interface to drilling control and DP systems)
