About Blackhawk Network Today through BHN s single global platform businesses of all kinds can tap into the world s largest network of branded payment solutions BHN helps businesses grow revenue increase loyalty motivate and reward their teams disburse funds and engage consumers Branded payment solutions include the issuance and distribution of gift cards egifts corporate payouts and rewards along with the technology to deliver these products in seamless integrated ways BHN s network spans the globe with more than 400 000 consumer touchpoints Learn more at BHN com Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer Java to join our team In this role you ll design build and scale critical systems that power the gift card recipient experience used by millions of customers worldwide You ll be responsible for building and maintaining fault-tolerant distributed systems collaborating with cross-functional teams and delivering high-quality resilient software at scale Responsibilities Take end-to-end ownership of assigned work products from design through delivery and ongoing support Demonstrate a strong sense of accountability and autonomy making sound technical decisions without needing constant guidance Write clean reusable and testable code that s easy to maintain Build products that perform scale and remain highly available and fault tolerant with automated failover capabilities Operate and scale a rapidly growing product that is vital to our partners Contribute novel ideas and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver and improve systems Be an excellent team player fostering collaboration knowledge sharing and mutual support across the team Work closely with product architects product owners and stakeholders to deliver high-value capabilities Qualifications Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience 4 years of hands-on backend distributed systems development experience using Java with strong experience in frameworks such as Spring Hibernate or similar Deep understanding of object-oriented design design patterns data structures and algorithms Experience building scalable high availability fault tolerant systems using microservices or service-oriented architectures Strong experience with relational databases e g MySQL PostgreSQL Oracle and exposure to or proficiency with NoSQL caching message queues Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs understanding of web services JSON etc Familiarity with performance optimization profiling troubleshooting latency reduction scalability and reliability concerns in production systems Experience with observability monitoring metrics logging tracing to maintain system health and support debugging in production Preferred Experience with Amazon Web Services AWS including RDS and EC2 Experience with container-based application development using Docker Kubernetes
