A Fiber Engineering Director is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and driving strategic initiatives to support organizational goals. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and operational oversight.

1. Strategic Leadership:
. Develop and execute strategies for fiber network design, deployment, and maintenance.
. Lead cross-functional teams to align with company goals and customer needs.
. Plan and execute large-scale fiber network initiatives.
2. Project Management:
. Manage all aspects of fiber network engineering, including design standards, permits and TCP
. Monitor and ensure contractual performance metrics are exceeding the targets
3. Team Development:
. Build and lead a high-performing engineering team by recruiting, training, and mentoring staff.
. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
4. Customer Experience Improvement:
. Ensuring timely delivery of customer assignments and elevating the quality standards
. Address customer feedback by proactively identifying and resolving issues.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
. Act as a technical resource for senior leadership in decision-making processes.
. Build relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors and other stakeholders.
6. Technology Optimization:
. Stay updated on emerging technologies in fiber optics to drive innovation.
. Rationalize tools and processes to optimize efficiency in design, deployment, and maintenance.
Qualifications
1. Education:
. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field advanced degrees are preferred.
2. Experience:
. 15-20 years of experience in fiber network engineering or telecommunications.
. At least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale projects or teams.
3. Skills:
. Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies, including design principles, splicing techniques, testing methodologies, and industry standards.
. Expertise in project management tools and methodologies.
. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
4. Technical Proficiency:
. Familiarity with network design software and tools (e.g., GIS systems).
. Understanding of federal/state regulations related to broadband deployment.
