Position: Environmental & Regulatory Manager

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra

About the Role

The Environmental & Regulatory Manager will be responsible for ensuring adherence to environmental permits, EHSS regulations, and sustainability goals for GH2/GNH3 facilities.

Responsibilities

- Environmental Compliance & Management
- Ensure adherence to environmental permits, EHSS regulations, and sustainability goals for GH2/GNH3 facilities.
- Conduct environmental monitoring, risk assessments, life-cycle analyses, and impact studies.
- Develop and implement waste management, emission control, effluent treatment, and carbon reduction strategies.
- Prepare reports for submission to environmental authorities and manage audits/inspections.
- Lead ISO 14001/45001 implementation and continual improvement programs.

Regulatory Affairs & Policy Engagement

- Track, analyze, and interpret evolving policies, standards, and incentive mechanisms for hydrogen and ammonia.
- Support project teams in securing statutory approvals, permits, and clearances from relevant authorities.
- Develop regulatory compliance roadmaps and ensure timely submissions/documentation.
- Represent the company in regulatory consultations, policy forums, and industry working groups.
- Advise management on opportunities arising from subsidies, carbon credits, and certification schemes (e.g., CertifHy, IPHE, BIS standards).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work with engineering, operations, legal, and commercial teams to integrate environmental and regulatory requirements across the project lifecycle.
- Provide inputs on design and operational practices to ensure environmental sustainability and regulatory alignment.
- Champion hydrogen/ammonia safety culture by ensuring HAZOP/HAZID and PSM practices are integrated with regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s/master’s in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Public Policy, or related discipline.
- 6–10 years of experience in environmental management and regulatory affairs in hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizers, or process industries.
- Strong knowledge of Indian and international environmental regulations, HSE standards, and hydrogen/ammonia-specific guidelines (ISO/TC 197, ISO 14687, BIS).
- Familiarity with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and emission mitigation technologies.
- Experience in regulatory compliance, permitting processes, and policy advocacy.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of Indian and international environmental regulations.

Preferred Skills
