A Delivery Boy is responsible for transporting goods, packages, food, or documents from one location to another in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. Delivery boys are the final link in the supply chain, ensuring that products ordered by customers reach their doorstep in good condition. This role plays a vital part in industries such as e-commerce, logistics, retail, food delivery, pharmaceuticals, and courier services. Delivery professionals not only handle transportation but also serve as the face of the company, directly interacting with customers during deliveries. Their behavior, punctuality, and professionalism contribute significantly to customer satisfaction and the company’s reputation.Key Responsibilities Order Collection & Verification Collect parcels, goods, or food items from warehouses, restaurants, stores, or dispatch centers. Verify order details, such as customer name, address, and product quantity, before leaving for delivery. Ensure safe handling of fragile or perishable items. Delivery Execution Deliver orders to customers within the assigned time frame. Use GPS navigation, delivery apps, or maps to locate customer addresses accurately. Obtain customer signatures, OTP verification, or digital acknowledgment upon successful delivery. Handle Cash on Delivery (COD) transactions, ensuring accurate collection and receipts. Customer Interaction Greet customers politely and ensure a positive delivery experience. Answer basic questions related to the delivery process. Address customer complaints or issues professionally and escalate them to supervisors if needed. Safety & Compliance Follow all traffic rules and regulations to ensure road safety. Wear company-provided uniforms and safety gear (helmet, gloves, reflective jacket, etc.). Maintain confidentiality of customer details and delivery records. Reporting & Documentation Update delivery status in mobile applications or logbooks. Report unsuccessful deliveries (e.g., customer unavailable, wrong address). Deposit collected cash or payments with the accounts/operations team at the end of the shift. Vehicle Maintenance (if applicable) Keep the delivery vehicle (bike, scooter, cycle, or van) clean and in good condition. Check fuel, brakes, and essential functions before starting daily routes. Report any vehicle issues to the supervisor promptly.Required Skills Driving & Navigation Skills Ability to drive two-wheelers, cycles, or light vehicles safely. Proficiency in using GPS and mobile delivery applications. Good knowledge of local routes, roads, and traffic patterns.
