About the Opportunity:
We are looking for Senior level Software Engineer to work on the challenging data infrastructure and data architecture problems that exist when working with multiple disparate social media data sets. The ideal candidate has strong computer science fundamentals and an interest in systems, data modeling and operations.
Responsibilities:
Candidates will need to apply all manners of software engineering techniques to solve challenging data acquisition and organization problems such as crawling, ETL, batch processing, stream processing, data modeling, and indexing. All of this is in the face of large data sizes, tight data availability constraints, imperfect data and continually evolving business requirements.
This position is in the engineering team and will require working closely with the product and client services teams, thus candidates need to have exceptional communication skills and a team-first attitude.Candidates should be open minded and eager to learn.
Required Skills:
- Strong computer science fundamentals.
- Provable programming prowess, preferably in Ruby.
- Strong understanding of DBMS and SQL.
- Passion for writing tight, non-complex code.
- Strong experience with Linux.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and design experiments to quickly validate ideas.
- Cloud experience, preferably AWS.
- Experience with a sizeable source code base and version control systems (git preferred).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on large data sets.
- Software engineering practices.
- Data warehousing.
Education Level:
Baccalaureate degree preferably in computer science or other analytic subject area; masters or doctorate degree holders are also encouraged to apply.
