Overview: A Java Backend Developer with Data Engineering responsibilities is a hybrid role essential in organizations handling large-scale data solutions. The role merges core backend development—using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architectures—with hands-on data engineering skills around ETL pipelines, big data processing, and cloud-based data infrastructure. Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Java (preferably Java 11+), Spring Boot, and REST APIs. - Architect and implement data processing pipelines integrating with RDBMS/NoSQL databases and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka). - Create, maintain, and optimize database solutions—writing efficient SQL queries and handling data modeling. - Work with ETL processes, batch jobs, and streaming data for analytics and reporting. - Write reusable, scalable, and testable code; perform unit testing with JUnit/Mockito. - Collaborate with front-end engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions. - Deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud-based (AWS, Azure, GCP) applications; leverage CI/CD pipelines. - Ensure code and process quality through peer reviews, code management tools (e.g., Git), and static code analysis. - Document systems, processes, and contribute to design and architectural decisions. Requirements: - Strong proficiency in Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, and backend development best practices. - Hands-on experience with relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra). - Experience with data engineering technologies: Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, or similar tools. - Understanding of ETL concepts, batch processing, and real-time data streaming. - Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructures. - Working knowledge of CI/CD, version control (Git), and automated testing. - Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and OOPS concepts.
