Location & work – Bangalore Employment Type - Full Time Profile – Backup & Replication Administrator – L2 Preferred experience - 5 Years The Role: We are seeking an experienced Backup Administrator with strong hands-on expertise in Commvault Enterprise Backup Solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing enterprise backup and recovery operations across large-scale, mission-critical systems. The role involves ensuring data integrity, backup performance, and compliance with defined RTO/RPO objectives within a 24x7 operational environment. Responsibilities: ● Proven experience in managing, operating, and administering Commvault backup and restore solutions for large-scale, mission-critical systems. ● Strong knowledge of backup architecture design, policy configuration, and retention management across Windows and UNIX/Linux platforms (Ubuntu, Red Hat). ● Responsible for end-to-end backup lifecycle including job scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting within 24x7 operational environments. ● Demonstrated ability to analyze backup performance trends and optimize configurations to improve efficiency and reduce failures. ● Experience in disaster recovery planning, data replication, and offsite backup management for business continuity. ● Hands-on experience in Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console for managing clients, policies, and storage libraries. ● Skilled in troubleshooting failed jobs, identifying root causes, and coordinating with application and infrastructure teams for resolution. ● Expertise in data recovery operations, ensuring compliance with RTO/RPO objectives and data protection standards. ● Experience working with cloud and hybrid backup integrations (AWS). ● Exposure to storage management, including tape libraries and deduplication appliances. ● Ability to generate and present backup health reports, daily summaries, and trend analyses to management. ● Actively involved in incident, change, and problem management using tools like ServiceNow (SNOW). ● Participated in backup infrastructure upgrades, patching, and migration projects ensuring minimal downtime. ● Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including storage, server, and network teams, to maintain data integrity. ● Commitment to maintaining backup security, encryption standards, and audit compliance. Must-Have Qualifications: ● BE/B. Tech/M. Tech/MSc/MCA or equivalent qualification. ● Minimum 5 years of experience as a Backup Administrator with extensive hands-on expertise in Commvault enterprise environments. ● Strong knowledge of Commvault and Veritas NetBackup administration (optional), including configuration, backup policy management, and troubleshooting. ● Hands-on experience in backup and restore operations for large and distributed enterprise environments. ● Expertise in Commvault disaster recovery, replication, and deduplication strategies. ● Ability to analyze, optimize, and automate backup performance and data retention policies. ● Familiarity with incident and change management tools such as ServiceNow (SNOW). ● Proficient in backup configuration, scheduling, and retention policy setup on Windows and UNIX/Linux (Ubuntu, Red Hat) servers. ● Experience with cloud-based backup solutions (AWS) and integration with on-premise environments. ● Knowledge of tape library management, media rotation, and storage lifecycle policies. ● Experience in troubleshooting failed backups, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive measures. ● Familiarity with security and encryption best practices for backup data protection and compliance. ● Ability to generate and analyze backup performance reports, capacity forecasts, and SLA adherence. ● Good understanding of virtual environment backups (VMware, Hyper-V) and snapshot management. ● Strong communication skills and the ability to work in 24x7 support and on-call rotation environments. Technical Skills ● Strong expertise in Commvault and Veritas NetBackup backup administration, including installation, configuration, policy management, and maintenance. ● In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in troubleshooting backup and restore failures in Commvault and NetBackup environments. ● Solid understanding of remote monitoring, proactive alerting, and support processes for enterprise backup systems. ● Experience with backup scheduling, retention policies, and data lifecycle management. ● Expertise in disaster recovery (DR) design, testing, and implementation. ● Strong knowledge of deduplication, replication, and synthetic full backups. ● Experience managing tape libraries and cloud-based storage targets (AWS). ● Proficiency in backup performance tuning, capacity planning, and storage optimization. ● Familiarity with ServiceNow (SNOW) or similar ITSM tools for incident, problem, and change management. ● Working experience on Windows, Linux, and UNIX platforms (Ubuntu, Red Hat). ● Knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V backup integrations and snapshot management. ● Understanding of encryption, data security policies, and compliance requirements related to backup data. ● Skilled in report generation, log analysis, and trend monitoring for proactive issue resolution. ● Ability to work in 24x7 support environments, ensuring high availability and data protection. Prefered Qualifications: ● Knowledge of remote support and remote monitoring processes. ● Experience with ITIL processes. ● Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, SNOW). ● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. ● Strong written and verbal communication skills. Certification ● Certification is not mandatory, but Commvault Certified Engineer (CVE) certification will be an added advantage. ● ITIL Certification is preferred.
