We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Internal Medicine Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in the diagnosis, treatment, and compassionate care of adult patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The Internal Medicine Consultant will be responsible for managing complex medical cases, providing expert consultations, and contributing to the overall quality of patient care and clinical excellence within the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care:
- Diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting adults, including but not limited to cardiovascular diseases, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine diseases, infectious diseases, and neurological conditions.
- Manage patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Conduct comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab results, imaging studies, EKGs).
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Provide expert medical consultations to other specialties and departments.
- Manage critically ill patients in collaboration with critical care specialists.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in on-call schedules as required.
- Patient Communication & Education:
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
- Educate patients on preventative healthcare measures, medication management, and lifestyle modifications to improve their health outcomes.
- Address patient concerns and questions with professionalism and clarity.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, residents, fellows, specialists, and allied health professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Professional Development:
- Stay abreast of the latest medical research, clinical guidelines, and technological advancements in internal medicine.
- Engage in continuous professional development through conferences, workshops, and further education.
- Adhere to all professional and ethical standards, as well as institutional policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree, MD or DNB from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine by the [Relevant Medical Board.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice
