Responsibilities We're looking for an experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our Shared Platform Services. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager; you'll be responsible for: - Designing, developing, coding, testing, and debugging complex software in C language - Architecting and implementing software for resource-constrained in terms of memory usage, CPU usage etc - Developing networking application on Operating Systems like Linux, FreeBSD or similar, ensuring deterministic and reliable performance - Mentoring junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion best practices in software engineering - Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for software designs and APIs What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications) - 10+ years of professional experience in software development - Expert-level proficiency in C programming for system software development. Experience in Java is plus - Strong hands-on experience with Operating Systems like Linux, FreeBSD or similar - Proficiency in using debugging tools such as GDB debuggers and logic analyzers - Experience with version control systems, particularly Gitlab What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications) - Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory management, and concurrency - Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) - Experience with scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation and testing At Zscaler, we are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve and the customers we work with.
