Job Description Job Title: MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER 2 to 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PMSM Motor Design: Design and develop Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors, expertise in designing its housing, bearings, and cooling systems, to meet performance specifications such as torque, efficiency, and thermal management for automotive or industrial applications. Auto Electrical Parts Design: Create mechanical designs for automotive electrical components, wiring harnesses, connectors, inverters, and electric vehicle (EV) powertrain systems, ensuring compatibility with vehicle architectures. GD&T Application: Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to create precise 2D drawings and 3D models, ensuring designs meet tight tolerances, fit, and function requirements for manufacturing and assembly. CAD Modeling: Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo) to produce detailed 3D models and technical drawings of motor components and electrical parts, incorporating GD&T symbols and annotations per ASME Y14.5 or ISO standards. Simulation and Analysis: Conduct finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and electromagnetic simulations to optimize designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, and electromagnetic efficiency. Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes of PMSM motors and electrical components, analyzing performance metrics (e.g., torque, power density, heat dissipation) and validating designs against specifications and tolerances. Material Selection: Select materials for motor and electrical components, considering mechanical properties, electromagnetic compatibility, thermal conductivity, and cost, while ensuring compliance with GD&T requirements. Integration: Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical designs with motor control systems, sensors, and automotive electronics, ensuring proper fit and function within vehicle systems. Manufacturing Support: Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for processes like die-casting, stamping, or CNC machining, using GD&T to communicate tolerances and ensure repeatability. Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, SAE, IATF 16949) and regulatory requirements for safety, emissions, and durability, incorporating GD&T for quality control. Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, bills of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and GD&T-compliant drawings for manufacturing and quality assurance. Problem-Solving: Address design challenges related to vibration, noise, thermal management, electromagnetic interference (EMI), or tolerance stack-ups, leveraging GD&T expertise to resolve issues.
