Position OverviewThe Sales and Service Engineer plays a critical dual role within a company, combining technical expertise with sales capabilities. This position requires the individual to sell technical products or services while also providing ongoing post-sales support, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The Sales and Service Engineer serves as the bridge between the company’s product offerings and customer needs, ensuring both client satisfaction and optimal performance of the equipment or systems sold. In addition to traditional sales activities such as generating leads, meeting potential customers, and closing sales, the Sales and Service Engineer also ensures that the products or services continue to perform optimally post-purchase. This role is highly customer-focused and requires the ability to understand and resolve technical issues while providing effective solutions in real time.Key Responsibilities1. Sales Responsibilities Generating New Business Actively prospect for new customers and identify sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, and attending trade shows and events. Develop relationships with potential clients in various industries by understanding their technical needs and presenting tailored solutions. Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the benefits and features of products. Prepare and deliver sales proposals, quotes, and contracts to potential clients. Follow up with prospects, answer their questions, and close deals to meet sales targets. Client Relationship Management Develop and maintain long-term relationships with both new and existing clients. Act as the main point of contact for all sales-related inquiries and follow-up. Offer product or service suggestions based on a thorough understanding of client requirements and business objectives. Ensure customer satisfaction to drive repeat business and encourage referrals. Sales Targets and Reporting Work towards achieving or exceeding sales quotas and objectives set by the company. Provide regular reports on sales progress, challenges, and competitive landscape to management. Assist in market analysis and sales forecasting, offering insights into potential trends or gaps in the market. 2. Service Engineer Responsibilities Installation and Setup Oversee the installation of equipment, systems, or machinery at client sites. Ensure that all installations are completed according to the company’s standards and specifications, and that customers are fully trained on how to use the products. Conduct site surveys before installations to assess the client's needs and ensure the feasibility of the system or product. Product Maintenance and Repair Provide ongoing service and maintenance support to ensure that products continue to operate effectively after installation. Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on faulty products or systems. Conduct routine maintenance visits to minimize downtime and ensure products remain in optimal working condition. Provide timely solutions to customer issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Technical Support Offer both remote and on-site technical support for troubleshooting and resolving product issues. Assist customers with user training and ensuring that they understand how to use products efficiently. Provide technical advice, helping clients understand how to optimize system performance. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate service records, including service reports, maintenance schedules, and technical support logs. Prepare detailed technical reports, outlining issues, solutions, and customer feedback. Document all customer service interactions, product issues, and resolutions in the company’s CRM or service management system. 3. Product and Market Knowledge Technical Expertise Keep updated on the technical specifications, functionalities, and applications of the products and services offered by the company. Develop a deep understanding of the customer’s industry and challenges to effectively offer solutions. Stay abreast of competitor products, industry trends, and technological advancements to provide value-added recommendations to clients. Training and Development Attend product training sessions and vendor certifications to enhance technical and product knowledge. Help customers understand new features and provide updates when new technologies or product versions are released. 4. Customer Feedback and Improvement Customer Feedback Collection Gather feedback from customers regarding product performance, satisfaction, and any areas of improvement. Act as a liaison between the customer and the company’s product development or engineering teams, helping to ensure that customer insights are considered in future product developments. Customer Retention Ensure that customers remain satisfied with both the product and the services provided, encouraging long-term relationships.
