Job Title: Deputy Manager - Electrical

Supervise 1-4 proposals and 1-3 projects depending on the size of proposal/project, ensure quality and technical excellence, provide key managerial, administrative & technical support and boost morale of the Team members for the jobs under supervision. Provide necessary technical guidance to lead engineer and all team members on job to ensure smooth working of both home-office & offsite offices. Assist Head of Department on activities related to manpower resources, recruitment, organization development, preparation of new standards and procedures. Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers in Home office and Engineering centre (EC) to carrying out detailed engineering work for large size projects. Take complete responsibility for execution of the project comprising of detailed engineering work, procurement related activities and support during construction and commissioning phases as per Contract requirement. Ensure execution of the project as per contract requirements, meeting project schedules & within budgeted man-hours

- Participate in Proposal Cost review meeting with management.
- Review ITB (Invitation To Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare equipment, material and man-hour estimates, Cost estimate, List of deliverable, Logistic BOQ, Construction BOQ, Software requirement and Vendor representative requirement for constriction / Commissioning supervision.
- Facilitate and co-ordinate manpower recruitment process in consultation with HOD
- Conduct regular technical interviews for potential new hires.
- Provide necessary guidance on planning of all engineering activities and manpower resources associated with proposals/ projects under responsibility.
- Ensure manpower resources of Electrical Engineers Team are adequate and are utilized efficiently.
- Establish performance criteria, agree performance objectives with the Team and develop competency of team members.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of the team members and recommend to HOD for training and development for the staff under supervision.
- Organize internal quality audits/peer reviews for monitoring quality and ensure timely close-out of actions.
- Provide advice and guidance to engineers and designers on important technical issues as well as managerial matters.
- Provide necessary support and guidance to Project Control, Construction and Commissioning.
- Participate in Contract Review process and provide required inputs to Lead Engineer.
- Perform responsibilities of Lead Engineer in event of large project.
- Develop Electrical engineering related Company Standards.
- Interact with leads on issues connected with Quality, Productivity, Progress, Man-hours, Technical integrity, schedules, extra hours, additional cost, variation order, milestone dates, work share with other offices etc.
- Interact with other discipline within Sharjah and other engineering centres and client as and when required in close consultation with lead. Review all key documents before issue and ensure that all systems are in place for preparation of engineering documents. Attend monthly engineering review meeting with Project Engineering Managers.
- Identify opportunity cost effective measures for value engineering and design optimization.
- Interact with peers from other offices across globe on regular basis to ensure consistency of work across all offices.
- Engage with Quality Assurance for quality issues. Ensure strict compliance with Project Quality procedures.
- Ensure Implementation of Quality standard / procedure and ensure the quality of document produce in Home office as well as in Engineering Centre.
- Guide and support lead engineers to carry out risk/reward/technical integrity studies of Electrical systems.
- Review engineering problems and guide the team in selecting safe, efficient and economical solution. Also work as Subject Matter Expert (SME) if assigned by HOD
- Interface and regularly meet with client & PEM on technical issues, conduct internal staff progress meetings.
- Participate in Design Reviews, SAFOP, constructability reviews on need basis. Ensure strict compliance with Company's ISO Quality procedures
- Demonstrates overall supervision and administrative oversight of personnel including engineers.
- Coordinates to achieve productive relationship with the engineering centres within the organisation (globally).
- Provides necessary guidance on manpower planning and takes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of his/her team.
- Provides technical expertise to all team members.
- Demonstrates experience and expertise with various engineering deliverables and procurement engineering and is aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of the department's scope of work.
- Assists in the planning and management of departmental /team objectives, budgets and resource requirements.
- Promotes innovation, departmental improvement and team working for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost-consciousness, and Quality and Safety Procedures.
- Ensures and facilitates an awareness of HSSE in all design and activities across the discipline.
- Promotes Quality Control throughout their team and ensures that their team works within the Quality Management System and participates in regular quality audits.
- Analyses exposure to risk and quantifies potential for losses, applies logical solutions for managing the risks taken through composition and implementation of contingency plans
