Job Description

- Designing(70%) testing (30%)ofnew components and products, sometimes as sole contributor but often as part of a team of contributors.
- Manage assigned mechanical design projects, adhering to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
- Perform day-to-day CAD (3D 2D) activities anddocumentation.
- Conductperiodicdesign review withmechanical teamscross functionalteams.
- Reviewing and analyzing solutions to achieve the best outcome for performance/cost/schedule
- Product testing (DVT)Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance
- Failure analysis and root cause identification
- Componentreview and approval, including global travel to be on-site at vendors during pre- production stage.
- Generating own (and reviewing others ) documentation, including concept proposals, analysis reports,componentspecifications, review minutes
- Ensure quality by design.
- Product testing (DVT)Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans(Inhouse and external lab)to verify mechanical performance against design specifications, including static and dynamic loading, fatigue testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing.
- Analyze test data,identifypotential issues, and implement design improvements to address any deficiencies.

Who you are and what you bring:

- Bachelors Degree (or higher qualification) in Mechanical Engineering
- 12+years (with BE / BS) or8+ years (with Masters)ofindustry work experience in product design development.
- Hands-onexperience in Designing electromechanical products
- Good exposureonUL/IEC and related standards. Experience on UL1741, IL9540, UL 9540Awill be an added advantage
- Experience in testing below international standards is desirable(butnot limited to).
- Inverters UL 1741, Electrical connectors UL 6703, UL 9703, EN 60512, EN 60352; Polymers UL 94, UL 746C.
- Ingress protection IEC 60529/IPXX/NEMA Enclosure standards
- Hands on is preparingmechanical mock-ups, Prototypes, Electro-mechanical assemblies, Cable
- Good Exposure on plastics, Sheetmetal, casting part design and manufacturing process
- Good understandingoncable assemblies, ECAD/MCAD integrations
- Good exposure on structural and thermal design considerations
- Good Exposure on DFX for high volume production
- Good exposureonprototype techniques for Design development and verification
- Expertisein SolidWorks and EPDM. Knowledgeonany other CAD packages will be an added advantage.
- ExposureonCAE tools is an added advantage.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) of parts made through injectionmoulding, sheet metal, stamping, milling/turning
- Experience using Computer-Aided development tools (SolidWorks)
- Clear communication - verbal and written
- Experience in the design and sustaining activities on high-volume products (+500k pa) would be a plusand alsopreviousemployment in high-power and consumer products industries would be a plus.
