Lead - OMEGAMON Monitoring Specialist The Role As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world. There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients. Key Responsibilities - - Install, configure, and maintain IBM OMEGAMON suite (including OMEGAMON for z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, Mainframe Networks, and Storage). - Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, thresholds, and custom views. - Troubleshoot and resolve OMEGAMON-related issues, ensuring minimal system impact and downtime. - Work with application, database, network, and system administration teams to define monitoring requirements and integrate solutions. - Perform regular performance tuning and health checks on the monitoring infrastructure. - Configure and manage automation scripts, alerting rules, and incident correlation mechanisms. - Participate in capacity planning, performance analysis, and system tuning using OMEGAMON insights. - Provide reporting and documentation for system performance, usage, and incidents. - Support audit and compliance initiatives by ensuring monitoring coverage and data retention policies are met. - Train junior staff or operational teams on OMEGAMON usage and best practices. Required Technical and Professional Expertise - Minimum 5 plus years of experience with IBM mainframe systems and monitoring tools. - Hands-on experience with OMEGAMON in z/OS environments. - Strong understanding of mainframe systems architecture, including JES2, SDSF, SMF, RMF, WLM, CICS, DB2, and MQ. - Familiarity with Tivoli Monitoring, PARMGEN configuration, and TEP(Tivoli Enterprise Portal). - Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and performance tuning. - Working knowledge of SMP/E, RACF, and JCL scripting. Preferred Technical and Professional Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or related field. - Knowledge of other monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Netcool, BMC, Splunk, CA Sysview). - Understanding of ITIL practices and service management. - Experience in batch job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, TWS). - Familiarity with modern IT monitoring dashboards and integrations (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus for hybrid environments). - Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. - Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
