waiter/waitress takes food and drink orders, serves guests, manages payments, and handles customer service in a restaurant or similar setting to ensure a positive dining experience. Key responsibilities include greeting guests, explaining the menu, accurately taking orders, serving dishes, processing payments, maintaining the cleanliness of the dining area, and resolving any guest concerns.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesGuest Interaction: Greet customers warmly, present menus, escort them to tables, and provide recommendations for food and drink specials. Order Management: Take accurate food and beverage orders, effectively communicating them to the kitchen and bar staff. Food & Beverage Service: Promptly and accurately serve prepared meals and drinks to guests, ensuring proper presentation. Customer Satisfaction: Check in with guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction, address any complaints, and provide assistance as needed. Payment Processing: Present the bill, process payments, and handle cash or card transactions accurately. Table Maintenance: Prepare tables for guests, including setting linens, silverware, and glassware, and clearing dirty dishes as needed. Dining Area Upkeep: Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including sweeping, wiping tables, and managing cleanliness in the service stations. Required SkillsCustomer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide a positive and hospitable experience. Attentiveness: Patience and attentiveness to anticipate guest needs and provide prompt service.
