Manager Ii, Data Engineering

Lead a high-performing engineering team in designing implementing and scaling data solutions that drive analytics reporting and business insights Provide technical leadership in architecting building testing releasing and monitoring data pipelines models and workflows Work closely with product managers data scientists ML engineers and other stakeholders to define the vision and roadmap for core services analytics and data products Identify strategically important problems inefficiencies or opportunities for meaningful improvement and drive alignment across teams to deliver high-impact solutions Promote a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence including best practices in coding design documentation testing monitoring and deployment of next-generation fintech systems Serve as a role model by demonstrating good judgment responsibility and accountability guide the team in effective project planning execution and prioritization Mentor and develop engineers fostering a collaborative inclusive and high-performance culture while helping teams navigate differences of opinion and reach consensus effectively Actively identify and solve engineering and business challenges with autonomy ensuring delivery of high-quality scalable and reliable data products on time and within scope Basic Qualifications Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager leading high-performing teams in designing building and delivering critical data solutions at scale Extensive experience managing and mentoring engineers fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to align diverse stakeholders and drive adoption of data solutions Demonstrated ability to work with product management and business partners to define vision roadmap and delivery priorities for analytics reporting and data platforms Deep technical expertise in distributed data systems including ETL logging storage data quality and monitoring Proven track record of delivering high-quality data products on time and within scope while driving engineering best practices across the team Passionate about coaching and developing engineers creating an environment that fosters learning accountability and innovation Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field Preferred Qualifications Experience creating and leading high-performing engineering teams including mentoring and developing talent Deep expertise in data analytics data modeling and big data architectures Hands-on experience with distributed systems and data storage solutions including fault-tolerant and multi-datacenter cloud architectures Experience in FinTech or Payments industries including projects with complex regulatory and compliance requirements Strong technical background with big data technologies Hadoop Hive Spark etc real-time data ingestion and stream processing Experience designing and operating large-scale reliable and performant data platforms Advanced degree Master s or PhD in Computer Science Engineering or a related field is preferred Uber s mission is to reimagine the way the world moves for the better Here bold ideas create real-world impact challenges drive growth and speed fuelds progress What moves us moves the world - let s move it forward together Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber s cultural identity Unless formally approved to work fully remotely Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office For certain roles such as those based at green-light hubs employees are expected to be in-office for 100 of their time Please speak with your recruiter to better understand in-office expectations for this role Accommodations may be available based on religious and or medical conditions or as required by applicable law To request an accommodation please reach out to Uber is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race color ancestry religion sex national origin sexual orientation age citizenship marital status disability gender identity Veteran Status or any other characteristic protected by law
