Who we are: We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT's product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system. Job Purpose: The Strategic Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies for critical materials, components, and services. The role requires strong technical knowledge, cost analysis capabilities, and supplier management expertise to drive cost competitiveness, supply assurance, and innovation across the supply base. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business goals and engineering requirements. Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery objectives are met. Drive supplier consolidation, risk mitigation, and long-term partnerships. 2. Cost & Value Engineering Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction, localization, and value engineering. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, manufacturing) for design-to-cost initiatives. Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Should-Cost analysis. 3. Supplier Management & Negotiation Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, contracts, and long-term agreements. Monitor supplier performance on quality, cost, delivery, and service (QCDS). Implement supplier development programs and performance reviews. 4. Process & Compliance Ensure sourcing activities are aligned with company procurement policies and compliance standards. Manage RFQs, bid analysis, supplier selection, and contract finalization. Maintain accurate sourcing documentation and reporting for audits and management reviews. 5. Market Intelligence & Risk Management Track market trends, emerging technologies, and cost drivers. Identify risks in the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies. Benchmark best practices and continuously improve sourcing processes. Key Skills & Competencies: - Strong technical knowledge of [relevant domain – electronics, mechanical, electrical, plastics, sheet metal, etc.]. - Expertise in sourcing processes, cost modeling, and supplier negotiations. - Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/IFS), and sourcing tools. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. - Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities. - Ability to influence stakeholders and drive results under tight timelines. Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. - 5-6 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing/engineering setup. - Exposure to global sourcing, supplier development, and cost reduction projects. - Knowledge of quality systems (ISO, APQP, PPAP) will be an added advantage.
