A Neonatology Associate Consultant plays a vital role in the care of critically ill and premature newborns primarily within Neonatal Intensive Care Units NICUs This position combines direct patient care clinical supervision and involvement in educational and administrative activities Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Manage neonates in the NICU including monitoring diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as prematurity low birth weight and congenital anomalies Emergency Response Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization during emergencies including attending high-risk deliveries Procedural Skills Conduct procedures like umbilical line insertion intubation and surfactant administration as needed On-Call Duties Participate in on-call coverage for various units ensuring 24 7 availability for neonatal care Consultation Services Provide consultative services to other departments within the hospital during regular and on-call hours Supervision and Training Oversee and mentor junior medical staff including residents and fellows and participate in their training and teaching Quality Improvement Engage in quality improvement programs and contribute to the development of clinical protocols Research and Education Participate in scientific research and contribute to educational activities and postgraduate training programs Qualifications Skills Education MBBS MD -Paediatrics DM Neonatology
