Position Details - Job Title: Principal Engineer (.NET & Azure) - Function/Department: Technology - Location: Bangalore/Hyderabad - Employment Type: Full-time We are seeking a Principal level engineer with deep expertise in .NET, Azure, and modern architecture practices to drive the technical direction, design, and execution of our mission-critical platforms. This individual will serve as a hands-on technology person, shaping the engineering roadmap, mentoring teams, and engaging directly with senior stakeholders. Ideal candidates will bring a blend of strong engineering rigor, architectural vision, and business acumen, preferably honed within banking, insurance, or fintech domains. Experience in high-growth startups is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Technology Leadership & Architecture - Define and own the technical strategy and architecture for large-scale, cloud-native systems built on .NET Core, C#, and Azure. - Drive adoption of design patterns, clean architecture, microservices, DDD, event-driven systems, and secure API design. - Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, and design sessions, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance. - Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, frameworks, and patterns that enhance the platform’s robustness and agility. Engineering Excellence - Be the go-to expert for complex .NET coding challenges, guiding senior engineers on advanced technical problems. - Establish engineering best practices in areas such as CI/CD, DevOps, observability, testing automation, and cloud infrastructure. - Drive performance optimization, cost efficiency, and compliance in Azure-based deployments. - Champion reusability, modularization, and secure coding practices. Stakeholder & Business Engagement - Partner with senior Level executives and senior business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into actionable technical solutions. - Influence decision-making at the leadership level by presenting architectural trade-offs and ROI of technology investments. - Act as a bridge between business needs and engineering execution, ensuring delivery of business-critical outcomes. Mentorship & Team Development - Mentor and coach senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, ownership, and technical excellence. - Shape technical career paths and guide the development of future engineering leaders within the team. - Set high standards for delivery and hold teams accountable for quality and timeliness. Qualifications & Experience Technical Expertise - 18+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in technical/architectural leadership roles. - Proven mastery of .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, LINQ, async programming, and advanced system design. - Deep hands-on experience with Azure PaaS services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Event Hubs, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, API Management, etc.). - Strong background in microservices, distributed systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native patterns. - Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, messaging, and event-driven architectures. - Solid grasp of security, compliance, and regulatory standards in financial systems (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, RBI/IRDAI norms). - Strong understanding of DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, IaC with ARM/Bicep/Terraform). - Prior experience in Banking, Insurance, or Fintech environments, handling large-scale transaction platforms, compliance-heavy systems, or financial product development. Exposure to startups or high-growth companies—comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and outcome-driven environments. AI Strategy & Adoption - Develop organizational AI strategy and identify high-value AI use cases - Evaluate AI/ML tools, platforms, and services for enterprise adoption - Establish AI governance frameworks including ethics, security, and compliance - Drive AI literacy across engineering teams through training and best practices - Assess technical feasibility and ROI of AI initiatives - Create standards for AI model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management - Partner with data teams to ensure proper data infrastructure for AI workloads - Stay current with AI/ML trends and emerging technologies - Guide integration of AI capabilities into existing systems and workflows Behavioural & Leadership Skills - Exceptional ability to engage with senior stakeholders and Sr level executives, simplifying complex technology into business impact. - Strong influencing and negotiation skills to gain buy-in for architectural and strategic decisions. - Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to present to executive boards and external partners. - A collaborative leader who inspires confidence, drives accountability, and fosters a high-performance culture.
