Junior Mechanical Engineer

The role under supervision will create tooling design, drawings and work instructions for the manufacturing processes. The individual will learn sheet metal forming methods (draw forming, hot forming etc.) and understand aerospace manufacturing standards (AS9100, NADCAP). Understand the different materials and tools used in making of complex parts. Participate in cost estimation of bids, preparation of technical proposals. Collaborate with engineers and others in improving forming processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance quality. Assist in resolution of technical issues during production, find practical solutions, minimize downtime and maintain quality. Contribute to optimize manufacturing processes by identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes. Track key performance indicators (KPIs). Participate in audits, reviews, and customer meetings as required.

Responsibilities:

Create CAD drawings of press tools, fixtures, and revise manufacturing drawings

Manage engineering tooling drawings, liaison with outside tooling support services

Analyse and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues

Prepare process documentation, revise work methods when required

Simplify machine setup and tool changeovers, improve uptime

Implement machine and equipment upgrades and other improvement solutions

Oversee tooling maintenance, upkeep and repair schedules

Assist in preparation of safety manuals and conduct periodic safety audits

Qualifications:

Ability to read engineering drawings including GD&T and annotations

Working knowledge of CATIA, SolidWorks and AutoCAD and MS Office suite

Expected – ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in English

Personality - analytical, questioning status quo, adaptable to change, trainable

Soft skills such as communication, teamwork, creativity, flexible

Bachelor in mechanical engineering or Diploma in mechanical space and having mechanical aptitude
