Title: Assistant Manager - Payroll

Location: Mumbai

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Payroll to manage and oversee end-to end payroll operations at our law firm. The role requires strong expertise in payroll management, statutory compliance, and hands-on experience with Spine Payroll system. The candidate will also be responsible for handling employee queries, ensuring accurate disbursements, and compliance with all applicable laws and firm policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing using Spine Payroll for all employees across offices.

• Ensure timely and accurate calculation of salaries, reimbursements, bonuses, arrears, and final settlements.

• Handle statutory compliance including PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Gratuity, and NPS contributions.

• Administer and monitor NPS deductions and submissions as per regulatory requirements, coordinating with Bank on the same.

• Generate payroll MIS, salary registers, variance reports, and audit schedules.

• Liaise with HR for new joiners, exits, and employee master updates in the payroll system. Address payroll-related employee queries with accuracy and confidentiality.

• Coordinate with Vendors, Banks, assist in audits (internal, statutory, and compliance).

• Implement process improvements and automation within payroll function.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce/Finance or related field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably in professional services firms.

• Strong working knowledge of Spine Payroll system.

• Familiarity with NPS administration and other statutory compliances.

• Proficient in MS Excel and payroll reconciliations.

• Detail-oriented, with strong numerical and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
