Job Summary:

This job acts as a project leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes. It involves making technical decisions, collaborating with management to set standards, and representing the company to external partners.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

- Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
- Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
- Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
- Proactively improves existing structures & processes
- Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
- Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
- Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
- Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Expected Qualifications:

- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

- Technical Leadership & Architecture

- Design and build comprehensive mobile test frameworks for iOS and Android platforms

- Lead mobile automation strategy including native app testing, hybrid app testing, and mobile web testing

- Develop CI/CD pipeline integration for mobile testing across multiple device configurations and OS versions

- Create and maintain testing tools and utilities specific to mobile testing challenges

- Develop comprehensive test plans for mobile product releases, feature rollouts, and platform updates

- Design and implement automated testing solutions covering unit, integration, and end-to-end mobile testing

- Produce critical product test deliverables including test strategies, execution reports, and quality assessments

- Domain Expertise & Innovation

- Drive functional testing initiatives for mobile financial services applications

- Lead usability testing programs with focus on mobile user experience and accessibility

- Pioneer mobile accessibility testing frameworks ensuring compliance with WCAG guidelines

- Develop internationalization testing strategies for mobile apps across different locales and markets

- Research and implement advanced testing methodologies including model-based testing for mobile user flows

- Team Transformation & Leadership

- Act as domain leader for mobile testing, coordinating activities of engineers across mobile testing initiatives

- Transform team culture from manual-heavy to automation-first testing approach

- Mentor team members on mobile testing best practices, device testing strategies, and automation frameworks

- Collaborate with engineering management to establish mobile testing standards and processes

- Strategic Technical Contributions

- Implement pairwise testing algorithms for mobile device and OS combination coverage

- Explore and integrate GenAI and machine learning for mobile test case generation and visual testing

- Lead cross-platform testing initiatives ensuring consistent experience across mobile platforms

- Develop comprehensive device coverage testing strategies across various mobile device configurations and OS versions

- Process Innovation

- Establish mobile testing metrics and KPIs to measure testing effectiveness

- Create documentation and training materials for mobile testing best practices

- Lead mobile testing community of practice within the organization

- Drive adoption of shift-left testing principles in mobile development lifecycle

- Quality Assurance Leadership

- Define and implement mobile testing strategies for financial services compliance

- Ensure mobile applications meet quality and compliance standards

- Lead mobile testing efforts for cross-platform compatibility and device coverage optimization

- Establish mobile testing governance and review processes

- Continuous Improvement

- Research emerging mobile testing technologies and evaluate their applicability

- Lead experimentation with AI-powered testing tools for mobile applications

- Drive mobile testing process improvements based on industry best practices

- Establish mobile testing center of excellence

- Advanced Technical Experience

- Experience with comprehensive mobile device coverage testing across different manufacturers and OS versions

- Knowledge of mobile application analytics and user behavior testing

- Familiarity with cloud-based device testing platforms and device lab management

- Experience with mobile testing in financial services or regulated industries

- Track record of successfully transforming testing organizations

- Experience with advanced testing methodologies (model-based testing, property-based testing)

- Knowledge of machine learning applications in software testing

- Experience with mobile accessibility testing and compliance

- Domain Knowledge

- Understanding of financial services regulations and compliance requirements

- Experience with mobile payment systems and financial application testing

- Knowledge of internationalization and localization testing for mobile apps

- Familiarity with mobile analytics and user behavior testing

- Experience presenting technical concepts to senior leadership and external stakeholders

- Track record of building and leading high-performing testing teams

- Experience with agile/scrum methodologies in mobile development environments

- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
