Job Description Experience: 27 years in Direct Tax (Post-qualification) Qualification: Chartered Accountant/ Senior finance professional Location: Sector 48, Gurgaon (On-site) Role Overview We are looking for a hands-on, independently responsible Direct Tax Manager who can lead assessment proceedings, handle complex tax positions, drive litigation strategy, and strengthen the firm's compliance and advisory practice. The role demands ownership, accountability, and the ability to work directly with partners, clients, and the Income Tax Department. Key Responsibilities1. Assessment & Departmental Representation - Manage end-to-end assessment and reassessment proceedings (faceless & jurisdictional). - Prepare submissions, replies, and attend hearings/VCs with tax authorities. - Liaise with AO, CIT(A), NFAC and related officers for assessments, rectifications, 154/264 applications, refunds, etc. 2. Litigation Management & Appeals - Draft and review appeals before CIT(A) and ITAT. - Track litigation timelines, maintain internal registers, and ensure zero slippage on due dates. - Support partners on strategy building for high-stakes tax matters. 3. Tax Reports 3CD / 3CB / 3CEB / CA Certificates - Independently review and file Form 3CD, 3CB, 3CEB, 15CA/CB and other CA certificates. - Review TDS positions and related reconciliations. 4. Compliance Review & Advisory - Review monthly/quarterly compliances including advance tax, TDS/TCS, 26AS/ AIS/ TIS, etc. - Evaluate tax positions for clientsstartups, corporates, promoters. - Identify risks, exposures, and optimization opportunities. 5. Client Management & Internal Coordination - Act as the go-to tax SPOC for allocated clients. - Review work done by team members and ensure quality control. - Track updates in Income-tax Act, CBDT circulars, notifications, and judicial rulings. Required Skill Set - Strong technical knowledge of direct tax law, assessments, appeals, and procedures. - Excellent drafting skills for submissions, replies, and appeal documents. - Ability to handle multiple matters independently with minimal supervision. - Working knowledge of tools such as IT portal, faceless assessment portal, TRACES, TDS utilities, etc. - High accountability, discipline, and responsiveness.
