Job Description Job Title: Drawing Checker Boiler Design / Pressure Parts Department: Design & Engineering Reporting To: Design Manager / Head Engineering Location: Chandigarh (On-site) Experience Required: 35 years (in Boiler / Pressure Part Design & Checking) Job Summary: Responsible for thorough checking, verification, and approval of engineering drawings related to boiler pressure parts, non-pressure parts, and auxiliaries to ensure compliance with design standards, IBR, ASME, and company quality procedures. Ensures all fabrication drawings are accurate, consistent, and manufacturable before release. Key Responsibilities: - Review and check fabrication, general arrangement (GA), and detail drawings for boilers, headers, drums, piping, ducting, and supports. - Verify drawings for dimensional accuracy, weld details, material specifications, and tolerances. - Ensure compliance with IBR, ASME Section I, II, VIII, and company design standards. - Validate pressure part calculations and confirm drawings reflect correct allowable stresses, thicknesses, and code requirements. - Coordinate with designers, engineers, and drafting teams to resolve discrepancies and improve drawing accuracy. - Review BOM (Bill of Materials), material specifications, and ensure correct material grades are assigned. - Check revision control, drawing numbering, and ensure all documents follow standard engineering document control practices. - Support design audits and participate in internal / third-party design reviews. - Provide technical feedback to improve drafting practices, templates, and standard notes. Skills & Competencies: - Strong knowledge of boiler design fundamentals (drums, headers, coils, piping, ducts, supports). - Hands-on experience with IBR, ASME, and IS standards related to boilers and pressure parts. - Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D and 3D CAD drawings (AutoCAD or SolidWorks). - Meticulous attention to detail with strong analytical and visualization ability. - Excellent coordination and communication skills for inter-departmental review. - Understanding of weld symbols, NDT requirements, and fabrication tolerances. Qualifications: - Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering. - Minimum 3 years of experience in boiler or pressure vessel design, with at least 1 years as a Drawing Checker. - Familiarity with design codes: IBR, ASME, BS standards (advantageous). Preferred Experience: - Experience with power boilers, or industrial package boilers. - Exposure to quality control, fabrication, or site erection drawings. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): - % of drawings checked and released without rework - Compliance with design standards and project schedules - Effective communication and closure of design queries - Contribution to improvement of drawing accuracy and standards
