As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll be a technical leader helping drive decisions that impact critical customer experiences. You'll tackle complex technical initiatives head-on, building high-quality, scalable systems that serve our global customer base. Working closely with principal engineers, you'll help shape our technical architecture while maintaining direct ownership of key components.

You'll bridge strategic vision with tactical execution, breaking down complex problems into implementable solutions. Your role combines hands-on development with system design, requiring both detailed technical implementation and high-level architectural thinking. As a senior engineer, you'll also, hold high technical bar, mentor team members and champion engineering excellence, ensuring we build maintainable solutions that scale with our business needs.

Key job responsibilities
1. Lead the design and implementation of complex, large-scale systems and features that enhance the Prime Video user experience
2. Architect and develop robust, scalable APIs and services that handle millions of concurrent users and billions of requests
3. Drive adoption of GenAI-powered development tools like AI pair programming, automated code reviews, and AI-assisted testing to improve code quality and developer productivity
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical strategies and contribute to the team's long-term roadmap, including integration of emerging AI technologies
5. Champion software development best practices by implementing both traditional methodologies and AI-enhanced tools for code standards, testing, and debugging
6. Mentor junior engineers on effective use of both traditional and AI-powered development tools while contributing to the team's growth
7. Analyze and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability using data-driven approaches and ML-based monitoring tools
8. Lead initiatives to evaluate and integrate new technologies, with particular focus on emerging GenAI capabilities that can enhance development workflows
9. Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patents and technical innovations, including novel applications of AI in video streaming technology

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
